Today I have a couple of beautiful Candy Lacquer polishes to show off!

I've been wanting to try Candy Lacquer polishes for a while now, but I've been trying to resist the urge to spend more money that I need to be saving! However, Sugar Skulls was being discontinued and I had to have it! Sugar Plum Fairy also caught my eye so I ordered it, but omg I wanted to order so much more!

Color Club - Cloud Nine

Holo! It was sunny and warm on Saturday so I knew I had to do a holo!

This is Color Club - Cloud Nine from the Halo Hues collection, it was very expensive for a color club polish but less than half the price of the Layla Hologram effect polishes for the same amount of holo.
The formula was fantastic, I could have gotten away with 1 coat, but I used two, it's so holographic Seche doesn't even dull the effect. It dried very quickly. The only complaint I have is, much like the first round of Layla Holograms, the colors are very pale and not very pigmented, I would have settled for a little less holo and more color. :)

Color:  Color Club - Cloud Nine: $6.95 TransDesign.
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $4.50 TransDesign, $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.32 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

Zoya - Carly

Join us on November 8th to stand against bullying! We will be posting purple manicures on our blogs to represent our commitment to the movement. We ask you to join us! All are welcome: Do purple nail art, or purple make up, or purple crafts for the day, or whatever else you’d like to do.

Copy the following statement to your blog, and check back here on Thursday for an Inlinkz code to also post on your blog!  (Inlinkz code will allow us to have a collective list of blogs participating)Bullying is not funny. It is not cool. It is not right. And more importantly, it is not okay.
Most of us are, thankfully, residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason. Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.

As members of the nail polish blogging community, we all share a love of beauty, color, and lacquer. Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair color...even to our polish application techniques. To marginalize anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that. I refuse to allow other people's view of "normal" dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.

In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement. Today, November 8, I dedicate my post to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colorful community.

My purple mani is Zoya - Carly. I swear she was purple in the bottle, hopefully she is not too red-toned to fit in. :) I used Orly's "Matte Top" matte top coat, and I've only used it a couple times before since I ran out of my China Glaze - Matte Magic. I've now confirmed that I'm really not a fan of the Orly version, it's not matte enough for me, it's great if you want a satin finish though!

It's also technically November 9th, but I haven't gone to bed yet so it's still the 8th to me, lol. ^_^

Color:  Zoya - Carly: $8 and Ulta.
Top Coat: Orly - Matte Top: $5.32 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.32 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

Enchanted Polish - Hey Jude

Here is another polish I ordered from Llarowe by Enchanted Polish.

This is called Hey Jude, it is part of The Beatles collection. I really love that Enchanted Polish did a Beatles collection because I love The Beatles! I grew up on this music, my dad used to blast The Beatles and Grateful Dead on the stereo when my mom was gone and me and my sisters would run around and dance and bang on anything. My dad would also sing us Beatles songs as lullabyes, I think my favorite ones to sleep to were Bungalow Bill and Rocky Raccoon. Although Hey Jude is not even close to the top of my list of favorite Beatles songs, it is a classic. I much prefer The White Album. :)

Anyway, less on The Beatles and more on this beautiful color! I would describe it as an iridescent scarab/peacock green that shifts into a cool grey/purple with fine, scrattered holographic glitter. If the description doesn't sound amazing enough, check out the pics! The formula was great, I used 2 coats(could have used one) over black.

Color:  Enchanted Polish - Hey Jude: $13, Llarowe & Harlow & Co.
Base Color:  Essie - Licorice: $8 Walgreens, Target $6 TransDesign.
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $4.50 TransDesign, $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.32 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

And of course the matching earrings and a better shot of the cheshire earrings.
Both can be made in 8mm heart, 8mm round, 10mm round and 12mm heart upon special request.

Crows Toes - Cheshire

I'm back!
Today I have a beautiful polish for you that I actually put on 2 nights ago, but it has been so gloomy I haven't been able to get a decent picture of it. I heard a rumor that Crows Toes - Cheshire was going to be retired and it's one I had my eye on for quite some time. Anyway, I didn't want to risk missing it, so I broke my no-buy and got it!

Ignore the shrinkage/tip wear it's from the Seche Vite and 2 days of wear. This is not a fresh mani!
The formula was great, it was even more beautiful in person than it is in pics because it actually has some small hex holo glitter in it. I opted to use American Classics - Gelous under the Seche Vite because some of the glitter is very large and I had a feeling it would just eat up the Seche Vite. I will definitely buy from Crows Toes again. :)

Color:  Crows Toes - Cheshire: $13 from Llarowe.
Base Color:  LA Colors - Metallic Purple.
Top Coat 1: American Classics - Gelous: $5.49 Sally Beauty Supply.
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

These are the earrings I made to go with the mani! These are available by custom request at You can email me at and I can whip up a pair for you in 8mm heart, 8mm round, 10mm round or 12mm heart for you in a custom order. :)

250 Follower Giveaway Winner!

Thank you everyone that participated in my giveaway. I hope you continue to follow me. I'm going to make an effort to do more giveaways because these are really fun! Thank you to all my readers. :)

I have contacted the winner and she has responded, so grats to Jennifer A!

Rainbow Honey - 20% Cooler

I got a few minis from Rainbow Honey to swatch, this is the color I was second most excited about getting! (The Element of Magic being first)

I didn't have a great blue to go underneath it, so I got Sinful Colors - Why Not and I wish I had gone a couple shades of blue lighter to match the base, but this is okay. :)
I used Gelous and Seche Vite on my previous Rainbow Honey mani, but I suspected the glitter was flat enough that I didn't need the Gelous... so I didn't use it this time and it was fine. :)

Color:  Rainbow Honey - 20% Cooler: $10 full size, $5 mini
Base Color:  Sinful Colors - Why Not: $1.99 Walgreens & Target.
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

Layla - Flash Black

I have a very special polish for my readers today. This is Layla - Flash Black and it is by far the most holographic polish I have ever seen. I really cannot believe how crazy holo this polish is. It was tough for me to dish out the $16 to get it, but it was worth it! Now, if only I could afford the rest. I have my eye on Layla polishes because the Mirror Effect collection looks beautiful as well. Maybe someday! I ordered this from Harlow & Co but you can also get it at Ulta and Ninja Polish.

I used the sandwich method for this polish since the top coat tends to take away from the holographic effect. I used 2 coats as a base, a coat of Seche Vite, then another coat of Layla. After doing this I realized I probably didn't need to use the Layla for the base coat and maybe saved a bit of the polish just using a similar color.

Color:  Layla - Flash Black: $16 Harlow & Co, $15.50 Ninja Polish, $15.50 Ulta.
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

Rainbow Honey - The Element Of Magic over Essie - Play Date

I decided to swatch a glitter today, and one of the prizes in my giveaway!
This is from the Rainbow Honey Equestria Collection. This color is inspired by Twilight Sparkle and the collection is inspired by the new MLP series, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. I don't have all of the colors in this collection, but I really wish I did. :)

It's really gorgeous, the formula is great. I used a coat of Gelous over it before Seche Vite but I suspect I didn't actually need the Gelous, the glitter seemed pretty flat. This is a great polish to use over Essie - Play Date which is one of my favorite polishes. :D

Color:  Rainbow Honey - The Element of Magic: $10 full size, $5 mini
Base Color:  Essie - Play Date: $8Walgreens/CVS/Target $4 Trans Design.
Top Coat 1: American Classics - Gelous: $5.49 Sally Beauty Supply.
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

China Glaze - Unpredictable

Sorry for not posting for so long. I've been trying to move my stuff around, babysitting and being lazy. I tried to swatch a few days ago, then I messed up my nail last minute and didn't have time to redo it, ugh. Then I tried this same mani yesterday and when I went to load the pictures on my computer later, I noticed I had a big fat piece of cat fur under the top coat. So, I tried again today, lol.

I have sooooooo many colors left to swatch, including the bunch I got from my boyfriend for my birthday and my Llarowe order and a pretty my sister got me for my birthday, so it's not like I'm lacking content, hopefully I'll swatch more often now. :)

Sally Beauty Supply seemed to forget to send me my birthday coupon, so I ended up swiping one from here... The TraceFace Philes - August Birthday Coupon. It's $10 off $20. So I picked up 3 of the New Bohemians and I'm With The Lifeguard from the Neons collection!

Here is China Glaze - Unpredictable from the New Bohemian Collection! This is the best color from the collection imo. ;)

PS:  I updated the giveaway sidebar and giveaway page with 16 new giveaways (phew)!!! I fixed the Gnarly Nails Giveaway link because I was not aware it wasn't working until just now... oops. :P Good luck everyone.

Color:  China Glaze - Unpredictable: $3.68 TransDesign,  $6 Sally Beauty Supply & Ulta.
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

OPI Fall 2012 Press Release

This is a long post, so be sure to click "Read More" for the OPI DS and Nicole by OPI Press Releases.

OPI Launches the Germany Collection for Fall/Winter 2012

OPI embraces runway trends with the Germany Collection for Fall/Winter 2012. Drawing inspiration from Berlin, an exciting new fashion hub that blends classic looks with the avant-garde, the collection’s twelve shades offer a mixture of vibrant color, urban-chic neutrals, and reds in variations from light to dark.

“Designers showcased rich colors and striking textures for fall,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.  “The Germany Collection beautifully complements these looks, with standout shades in various hues of red and burgundy – the season’s ‘new black.’ Sapphire, black olive and lime yellow are married with creamy neutrals in honey, taupe and nude rose.”

“The overall feel of the Germany Collection is elegance with an edge,” adds Suzi. “The varied palette of colors adds another accent to the list of special touches – think beadwork, paneling, fur and embroidery – that walked the runways during New York Fashion Week. Wearing these shades on fingers and toes is a great way to accessorize

Glamour Doll Eyes

I signed up to be notified when Glamour Doll Eyes' Circus collection was going to be back in stock because I saw a review of a color, Fiji Mermaid that looked spectacular and I wanted to try it.  After months and months, I finally got the email that it was back in stock!

This is my first experience with Glamour Doll Eyes so I just ordered a few samples and I spent under $15.

I ordered a sample of their "Control Freak" primer. I also got a sample of "Foil Me" which is a liquid additive to use the shadows wet or as a liner. I have yet to experiment with those.

Fiji Mermaid lived up to my expectations! I  received 2 free samples (Fierce and Electric Lemonade) with my order as well as a raffle ticket from ordering from the Circus collection. The shadows are great quality, cheap and very pigmented, I would definitely order from Glamour Doll Eyes again. :)

The samples were $1.25 each for a .5 gram bag, for $2.50 you can opt to have your .5 gram sample in a small jar. Full size shadows are $6 for a 2-2.5 grams or 1.5-2 grams with a sifter. Most of the shadows are Vegan and come labeled whether they are Vegan or Not and Lip Safe or not.

The shadows are swatched over NYX HD - High Definition Eye Shadow Base which I use because it's cheap and it works ($6.99 though Ulta has deals on NYX a lot)! (I don't makeup everyday so my tubes tend to dry out before I finish using them).

Fierce & Hollywood are swatched over Fryinnae - Pixie Epoxy ($7/9ml or $2/1.5ml)which is a must have if you're using glitter heavy shadows. You can also use clear lip gloss.

GlitterGal - Lizard Belly

Today I have a gorgeous color, this is GlitterGal - Lizard Belly! This color was a bit more pigmented than Bruised Ego/Dark Purple but a bit less holo, probably since it's so dark. This looks a lot like black but it's actually a very deep, dark hunter green. If you're looking for holos, GlitterGal is a great option but if you're waiting to save a bit of cash, China Glaze is finally coming out with more holos for Spring! I doubt they will be as holographic is GGal and Laylas though. :)

I used the sandwich method I picked up from other bloggers on this holo, a top coat tends to take away from the holographic effect, so you put down a base of your holo, top it with Seche Vite, then use another layer of the holographic color on top. It works quite well!

Color:  Glitter Gal - Bruised Ego (aka Dark Purple 3D Holo): $18 Harlow & Co. (15ml), $14 Harlow & Co. (9ml).
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10 Target.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

Zoya - FeiFei for 1 cent.

I saw this deal on another blog, Going to the Showing.

This is how I got Zoya - Feifei for only 1 cent

This is a deal with, when you join on your own you get a $10 off $50 credit or something but when you join through an invite, the first 40 people to signup get a $10 credit for signing up. I didn't have to spend any money, except the 1 cent to get this polish which is I guess to make sure people aren't making multiple accounts.

I thought the deal was too good to be true, so I joined through my twitter account I never use in case they want to spam me with crap and I put the 1 cent on  a Visa Gift Card so they didn't have access to a bank account. Sure enough, it seems like there were really no strings attached, only 1 cent was charged to my card and I received Zoya - Feifei in the mail 3 days later.

You're not guaranteed to get any color you want, it all depends on what people are selling at the time, I happened to get lucky and see Zoya - FeiFei up there for less than $10. There are a lot of polishes for $10 or less so you should find a color that you like!

Just make sure you find the link to USE your credit BEFORE you complete the order.

Here is a link to the invite.... - Personal Invite from Lauryn Lofgren

As for the polish...

The formula was awesome! It's a Zoya and I really like their brushes and formula, so I wasn't surprised.
I saw a swatch of this on Scrangie and it looked stunning! This reminds me of Zoya - Edyta though in the way that it looks MUCH better in the bottle. It does have a slight duochrome shift from blue to purple that you can see in the photo, but it's not very noticeable at all on the nail. It's a great color if you're looking for a sparkly blue/charcoal polish, it has blue and green/gold glitter in it, but don't buy it expecting a noticeable duo-chrome. :)

This is part of the Fall 2012 NYFW Diva Collection.

Color:  Zoya - FeiFei: $8 Ulta &, $9 TradeSecrets(Canada).
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10 Target.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

Glitter Gal - Bruised Ego (Dark Purple 3D Holo)

Today I woke up and painted my nails before the sun went down *gasp*, so I decided to swatch a holo I just got last week from Harlow & Co.

Note: I refilled the giveaway sidebar and page.

I have been eyeing this color for a long time now and I just couldn't bring myself to spend the money on it until now. I opted for the larger 15ml bottle. Llarowe  has discontinued this line so it gave me a chance to order from Harlow & Co. for the first time!

It was a very good experience, I also bought Layla - Flash Black. My package was sent out right away, I got a tracking number, It came within 3-4 days and it was packaged very safely. I will definitely order from Harlow & Co. again!

The polish was great, it applied very well and the dry time was decent. I love this particular shade of purple and holy crap is this stuff holographic! It had a jelly like texture and while I could have gotten away with two coats, I used 3 coats for the best results.

Color:  Glitter Gal - Bruised Ego (aka Dark Purple 3D Holo): $18 Harlow & Co. (15ml), $14 Harlow & Co. (9ml).
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10 Target.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

Nails Inc. - Spitalfields

I mentioned in an earlier post that I was having trouble with my brand new Nails Inc. Fishnet magnet. I thought maybe it just lost some of it's strength being in the store, so I decided to freeze it... because that is what the internet told me to do. :P

It did not help at all. I spent hours today trying to figure out what I was doing wrong, using more polish, putting the magnet closer to the nail, putting the magnet on faster. I tried the magnet with another polish... nothing worked, so I decided to look it up online to see if anybody else had problems with it or if I just had a faulty magnet. Turns out this polish/magnet has hundreds of terrible reviews. Ugh. I wish I read the reviews first!

The problem is that the magnet just isn't strong enough. In the areas where the nail bends further away from the magnet (the sides), you don't get a pattern at all. :(

So... this was $16 down the drain. The polish still works with other magnets, but I'm afraid the fishnet magnet is a bust. The green magnetic polish is very pretty, but I wouldn't have spent $16 on a small bottle of green magnetic polish, especially when China Glaze is coming out with a similar color. :(

The other polish (purple) I used is China Glaze - Drawn to You... which I apparently forgot to swatch. o__O
