Wet n Wild - Cost Is No Issue

This is one of the Wet n Wild Ice Baby polishes I was unable to find when they came out last fall, but my good friend Carina found it for me. It's even prettier than I expected! I'll probably never own Deborah Lippmann - Mermaid's Dream because I just can't justify the $18 price tag when this one was $3.

The formula is surprisingly awesome for a drugstore brand of glitter. Glitter formulas have improved so much in the past couple of years. I remember the CG special edition glitters and the OPI Burlesque collection and how thick and glompy their formulas were. I pulled out my bottle of OPI Sparkle-licious yesterday to swatch but I'm not sure all the polish thinner in the world can save it... which is sad because I didn't use it much because it was one of my favorites and I didn't want to waste it lol.

Color:  Wet n Wild - Cost Is No Issue: $2.99 Walgreens & CVS
Top Coat 1: American Classics - Gelous: $5.49 Sally Beauty Supply.
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

China Glaze - Jamaican Out

I was up at Sally Beauty Supply getting a couple polishes and I had to pick one that I got for free, I thought this one was very pretty and I was there with my niece, Kylie(she is 5) and she thought it was very pretty so I got it. I just wish it had more pink in it, then it would be perfect. I put it over China Glaze - Pool Party trying to make it a little pinky but it did not work because Jamaican Out is surprisingly opaque.

This is China Glaze - Jamaican Out from their core collection. So, if you want it... it should be really easy to find. :)

Color:  China Glaze - Jamaican Out: $3 TransDesign, $6 Sally Beauty Supply & Ulta.
Base Color:  China Glaze - Pool Party: $3 TransDesign, $6 Sally Beauty Supply & Ulta.
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10 Target.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

While I love my US and Canada followers... I think it's really awesome I have people all over the world reading my blog. :D

China Glaze - Optical Illusion

My First Giveaway ends to day, be sure to enter!

Today I have another color from the China Glaze Prismatic Glitter collection... this is the green one! The formula on these are like a dream. They cover well and evenly, it's not a jelly so you don't have it trying to escape the tips of your nails and it doesn't eat up the top coat because it dries flat. I think somebody finally nailed the glitter formula!

Sally Beauty Supply: For the rest of April all nail polish, including special collections but excluding gel polish is buy 2 get 1 free.

Color:  China Glaze - Optical Illusion: $3.68 TransDesign, $7 Sally Beauty Supply, $8 Ulta.
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

China Glaze - Pool Party

This is a color from China Glaze's Summer 2010 collection called Poolside. It was an entirely neon collection, they will be coming out with a new Neon collection for summer 2012. China Glaze added this to their semi-permanent collection, so it should be very easy to find.

Tip: To make your neons even brighter, use a white polish underneath them. :D
I used white as a base coat in the pictures and I'm not sure if you can tell, but I didn't use it on my pointer finger. It's much easier to tell the difference in person.

Color:  China Glaze - Pool Party: $3 TransDesign, $6 Sally Beauty Supply & Ulta.
Base Color:  Essie - Blanc: $4 TransDesign, $8 Walgreens & Ulta.
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10 Target.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

Sally Hansen - Ruby Diamond

I have a gorgeous linear holo for you guys today! I would go as far to say this is more holographic than China Glaze's OMG collection and it looks similar to the new Layla Holos. I haven't had the chance to try any holos from Oztic, Glitter Gal or HITS yet because it's just not in the budget. Especially after wasting a ton of money in the Canadian border debacle.

I would have to say holo is my favorite finish for polishes. I will never get sick of it. :) I really wish Sally Hansen would bring back their Nail Prisms collection because they had beautiful multi-chromes and great holographics. I'm sad I missed them and have had to get what I have from ebay. My awesome friend Carina from Carina L'etoile's Polish Stash sent me this beauty!

Layla Magneffect - Metallic Sky

Update: I restocked the Giveaway sidebar and Giveaway page!

Alright, here is another Magnetic post!! I will do the polish first since I seem to write a novel in front of every swatch lately...

The forumla was nice and thick, a little streaky. It was too expensive but they have a wide range of colors. The magnet is strong but it doesn't have a cuticle rest so it's a bit harder to use than the others brands. However, you have A LOT of color options with Layla.

Color: Layla Magneffect - Metallic Sky: $15.50 Ulta.
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10 Ulta.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

Here is some exciting news I saw on another blog, this isn't an official China Glaze press release and I have no idea when these are supposed to be released. This is a little preview on the Magnetix II collection, it has a new magnet with designs I haven't seen before. Hopefully this magnet is stronger than the last one!

These looks like some much more exciting colors and... I don't know about you guys, but I am NOT over magnetic polishes yet. :)  I know Finger Paints just recently came out with a collection of magnetics, but at this point they all seem to be the same colors. I would have liked to try every brand to compare!

So, far my favorite magnetic brand is China Glaze. I've tried Nails Inc.  and now Layla to compare. Nails inc and Layla are just TOO expensive and the bottles are just so small.

China Glaze (.5oz/14ml): $4.60 from TransDesign, $8 Sally Beauty Supply. The magnet comes separately for the same price as the polish. The magnet includes 3 designs, one of which is a starburst. The magnet isn't strong, so I end up using magnets from other brands for the best results.

Nails inc. (.33oz/10ml): $16 from Sephora. The magnet is  strong, it comes in a chevron pattern. This brand comes in a few different colors, Whitehall Teal seems to be the most original(I want it!).

Layla Magneffect (.33oz/10ml): $15.50 Ulta. The magnet is  strong but difficult to handle, it doesn't have a cuticle rest like the other magnets. The formula is a bit streaky. You will find the widest range of colors with Layla.

Brands I haven't tried include...
Color Club (.33oz/10ml):$5.95 from TransDesign. The magnet is a chevron pattern, it comes with the polish.

Finger Paints (.33oz/10ml): $7 from Sally Beauty Supply. The magnet  is a chevron pattern, it comes with the polish.

Icing/Claires (.33oz/10ml): $9 from Icing/Claires: I've heard the brushes suck in these and they're pretty expensive compared to some of the higher quality brands BUT... these are the only ones I have seen that have a wavy magnet.

Nabi (.5oz/14ml): $5 from Walgreens. I haven't seen these at a Walgreens near me. I heard these really stink... but they look good! You can choose from a straight line, diagonal line and chevron design. These do not have the cuticle rest. They seem to hive a wider range of colors, one including a nice vibrant red.

Orly - Fowl Play

Alright. My hiatus is over. I'm finally back to swatching. It took me a lot longer to start back up again but things did not go as planned for my trip to Toronto.

I planned on staying with my boyfriend, starting the process to become permanent resident and return home when my time was up. However, the immigration office I got send to after clearing customs didn't believe I was planning on going home. They took all my identification and my cell phone and detained and interrogated me for 8 hours (they wouldn't even let me call my mother or boyfriend who were expecting calls as soon as I landed). They went through my luggage and sent me on the last flight of the day to NYC (the opposite direction of my home). I had to stay at the La Guardia airport overnight, I spent 10 hours there then got on a flight to Milwaukee, WI and home to Minneapolis, MN. It was THE worst experience of my life.

Anyway, on to the nail polish talk!

I LOVE rainy days... unfortunately, they are not good for photos. Hopefully we'll get some sun soon so I swatch the sparklies and holos I have saved up. :)

Please ignore my partially and completely broken nails, they were broken packing, unpacking and hauling around my luggage. >.<

It looks like there is some major tip wear in these photos but it's just because this polish is a jelly so I didn't get much coverage at the tips. i should have put something underneath it! I will remember that for the next time I wear this. :)

This is a color from their Fall 2011 Collection called Birds of a Feather.

Color:  Orly - Fowl Play: $4.25 TransDesign, $7 Sally Beauty Supply, $8 Ulta.
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10 Target.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

China Glaze - Prism

This is my last swatch before I head to Toronto. I'll be there Monday afternoon and I have been swamped with getting last minute things, products I love that I'm afraid they won't have up there (I keep saying up there but Toronto is actually DOWN there from Minneapolis) OR if they DO have them up there, they are super expensive.

Some things I got to bring (I won't list everything)...

It's unfortunate that I can't bring Chili's (the Restaurant) because it is my favorite restaurant ever!
  • Matrix - Amplify Shampoo & Conditioner: I have extremely thin oily hair, this stuff is expensive but it keeps my hair clean for about a day and a half which is double what anything else does. It also helps with volume a lot!
  • L'Oreal True Match: Liquid foundation in W1, Concealer in W1-W3, Powder in W1 and Blush in C1-C2. I'm sure they have these up there, but their makeup is very expensive. I gagged at the prices at Shopper's Drug Mart. This is also the only line of makeup that matches my extremely pale skin. I wear the same color year-round because I cannot tan at all.
  • Famous Dave's: Rich & Sassy BBQ Sauce. This is the best BBQ sauce in the entire world and Canada does not have it. Not only do they not have it but Canadians tend to like their BBQ sauce sweet (almost like an Asian dipping sauce) than spicy (of which I like pretty mild... for the states).
  • Kirkland (Costco): 1Qt/1L of Real Maple Syrup. Although Canada is supposedly the Maple Syrup capital of the world... it's very expensive there. 1 Quart of Real Maple Syrup(at Costco) is about $12 (eventhough it's made in Canada). So, it's actually cheaper to buy Costco syrup and bring/ship it to Canada... than buy it there.

However, there are also Canadian things that I REALLY miss when I'm in the States.
  • My boyfriend and his wonderful family (of course).
  • Pizza Pizza: Panzerottis
  • PINK Cream Soda(Fanta is the best): It tastes completely different, like the Dum Dum suckers Cream Soda suckers)
How about you guys? If you travel, are there things you bring with you that you can't get elsewhere and can't live without? :)

So, goodbye for now! I will be back sometime next week. :)

Back on topic! This is China Glaze - Prism from the China Glaze Prismatic Glitters collection.
I would call this color a Periwinkle/Green base of microglitter with multi-colored circle glitter?
Yes, I meant for that question mark to be there... This is a lot of colors in one polish, it's awesome and unlike other CG Glitters, this is opaque in only two coats. This collection reminds me of Katy Perry, it's like Candyland and gum drops. That OPI collection isn't even as close to as Katy Perry as this collection is. As with most glitter polishes, I used Gelous as a first top coat and finished with Seche Vite.

Right now at Sally Beauty Supply (in my area at least, but I think it's everywhere) all nail polish, including special collections but excluding gel polish is buy 2 get 1 free.

Color:  China Glaze - Prism: $3.68 TransDesign, $7 Sally Beauty Supply, $8 Ulta.
Top Coat 1: American Classics - Gelous: $5.49 Sally Beauty Supply.
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

Nail Mail!

So, my NPBFF(Nail Polish BFF) sent me some nail mail today!

I asked her if she could find me Orly - Fowl Play... she... sent me more than that. By A LOT!!!!!!!!
A BIG thanks you to  Carina of Carina L'etoile's Polish Stash, you are the most generous friend ever. She is also responsible for my nail polish addiction! My niece and nephew found the package at the door and I hear them saying a package was for me, I thought maybe it was my Born Pretty order, so I was really excited already. Then... I saw a HUGE box, was like wtf, then I saw who it was from and I was like.... oh... my... god. What has she done now? It was like Christmas in the house, the kids were spazzing out they were so excited. They even ran downstairs to tell their mother.

In Fall of 2008 I only owned 3 Bottles of nail polish. She showed me her blog and sent me China Glaze - 5 Golden Rings and OPI  Suede - Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees and I have spiraled out of control ever since. As much money as I spend on nail polish and as much time I spend talking about it. I enjoy it, it's a really fun hobby and I really enjoy being everybody's nail polish friend/sister/daughter/aunt. So, thanks Carina. :)

OPI DS - Reflection

This is a color from the OPI DS series, available at Ulta.

I've been saving this polish for a sunny day because it has tiny holographic glitters in it.
Don't get me on, this is a VERY VERY pretty color... but if you're looking for a holographic polish, you will be very disappointed. If you're looking for a polish that catches the light better than your standard shimmer polish, you will be very happy with it. I do love the color though and I will definitely be draining the bottle dry.

I forgot to do blue in support for Autism Awareness. >.< But hey.... um... be aware of Autism!
