OPI Fall 2012 Press Release

This is a long post, so be sure to click "Read More" for the OPI DS and Nicole by OPI Press Releases.

OPI Launches the Germany Collection for Fall/Winter 2012

OPI embraces runway trends with the Germany Collection for Fall/Winter 2012. Drawing inspiration from Berlin, an exciting new fashion hub that blends classic looks with the avant-garde, the collection’s twelve shades offer a mixture of vibrant color, urban-chic neutrals, and reds in variations from light to dark.

“Designers showcased rich colors and striking textures for fall,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.  “The Germany Collection beautifully complements these looks, with standout shades in various hues of red and burgundy – the season’s ‘new black.’ Sapphire, black olive and lime yellow are married with creamy neutrals in honey, taupe and nude rose.”

“The overall feel of the Germany Collection is elegance with an edge,” adds Suzi. “The varied palette of colors adds another accent to the list of special touches – think beadwork, paneling, fur and embroidery – that walked the runways during New York Fashion Week. Wearing these shades on fingers and toes is a great way to accessorize

Glamour Doll Eyes

I signed up to be notified when Glamour Doll Eyes' Circus collection was going to be back in stock because I saw a review of a color, Fiji Mermaid that looked spectacular and I wanted to try it.  After months and months, I finally got the email that it was back in stock!

This is my first experience with Glamour Doll Eyes so I just ordered a few samples and I spent under $15.

I ordered a sample of their "Control Freak" primer. I also got a sample of "Foil Me" which is a liquid additive to use the shadows wet or as a liner. I have yet to experiment with those.

Fiji Mermaid lived up to my expectations! I  received 2 free samples (Fierce and Electric Lemonade) with my order as well as a raffle ticket from ordering from the Circus collection. The shadows are great quality, cheap and very pigmented, I would definitely order from Glamour Doll Eyes again. :)

The samples were $1.25 each for a .5 gram bag, for $2.50 you can opt to have your .5 gram sample in a small jar. Full size shadows are $6 for a 2-2.5 grams or 1.5-2 grams with a sifter. Most of the shadows are Vegan and come labeled whether they are Vegan or Not and Lip Safe or not.

The shadows are swatched over NYX HD - High Definition Eye Shadow Base which I use because it's cheap and it works ($6.99 though Ulta has deals on NYX a lot)! (I don't makeup everyday so my tubes tend to dry out before I finish using them).

Fierce & Hollywood are swatched over Fryinnae - Pixie Epoxy ($7/9ml or $2/1.5ml)which is a must have if you're using glitter heavy shadows. You can also use clear lip gloss.

GlitterGal - Lizard Belly

Today I have a gorgeous color, this is GlitterGal - Lizard Belly! This color was a bit more pigmented than Bruised Ego/Dark Purple but a bit less holo, probably since it's so dark. This looks a lot like black but it's actually a very deep, dark hunter green. If you're looking for holos, GlitterGal is a great option but if you're waiting to save a bit of cash, China Glaze is finally coming out with more holos for Spring! I doubt they will be as holographic is GGal and Laylas though. :)

I used the sandwich method I picked up from other bloggers on this holo, a top coat tends to take away from the holographic effect, so you put down a base of your holo, top it with Seche Vite, then use another layer of the holographic color on top. It works quite well!

Color:  Glitter Gal - Bruised Ego (aka Dark Purple 3D Holo): $18 Harlow & Co. (15ml), $14 Harlow & Co. (9ml).
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10 Target.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

Zoya - FeiFei for 1 cent.

Hey,

I saw this deal on another blog, Going to the Showing.

This is how I got Zoya - Feifei for only 1 cent

This is a deal with copious.com, when you join on your own you get a $10 off $50 credit or something but when you join through an invite, the first 40 people to signup get a $10 credit for signing up. I didn't have to spend any money, except the 1 cent to get this polish which is I guess to make sure people aren't making multiple accounts.

I thought the deal was too good to be true, so I joined through my twitter account I never use in case they want to spam me with crap and I put the 1 cent on  a Visa Gift Card so they didn't have access to a bank account. Sure enough, it seems like there were really no strings attached, only 1 cent was charged to my card and I received Zoya - Feifei in the mail 3 days later.

You're not guaranteed to get any color you want, it all depends on what people are selling at the time, I happened to get lucky and see Zoya - FeiFei up there for less than $10. There are a lot of polishes for $10 or less so you should find a color that you like!

Just make sure you find the link to USE your credit BEFORE you complete the order.

Here is a link to the invite....
Copious.com - Personal Invite from Lauryn Lofgren

As for the polish...

The formula was awesome! It's a Zoya and I really like their brushes and formula, so I wasn't surprised.
I saw a swatch of this on Scrangie and it looked stunning! This reminds me of Zoya - Edyta though in the way that it looks MUCH better in the bottle. It does have a slight duochrome shift from blue to purple that you can see in the photo, but it's not very noticeable at all on the nail. It's a great color if you're looking for a sparkly blue/charcoal polish, it has blue and green/gold glitter in it, but don't buy it expecting a noticeable duo-chrome. :)

This is part of the Fall 2012 NYFW Diva Collection.

Color:  Zoya - FeiFei: $8 Ulta & Zoya.com, $9 TradeSecrets(Canada).
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10 Target.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

Glitter Gal - Bruised Ego (Dark Purple 3D Holo)

Haiii!
Today I woke up and painted my nails before the sun went down *gasp*, so I decided to swatch a holo I just got last week from Harlow & Co.

Note: I refilled the giveaway sidebar and page.

I have been eyeing this color for a long time now and I just couldn't bring myself to spend the money on it until now. I opted for the larger 15ml bottle. Llarowe  has discontinued this line so it gave me a chance to order from Harlow & Co. for the first time!

It was a very good experience, I also bought Layla - Flash Black. My package was sent out right away, I got a tracking number, It came within 3-4 days and it was packaged very safely. I will definitely order from Harlow & Co. again!

The polish was great, it applied very well and the dry time was decent. I love this particular shade of purple and holy crap is this stuff holographic! It had a jelly like texture and while I could have gotten away with two coats, I used 3 coats for the best results.

Color:  Glitter Gal - Bruised Ego (aka Dark Purple 3D Holo): $18 Harlow & Co. (15ml), $14 Harlow & Co. (9ml).
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10 Target.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

Nails Inc. - Spitalfields

I mentioned in an earlier post that I was having trouble with my brand new Nails Inc. Fishnet magnet. I thought maybe it just lost some of it's strength being in the store, so I decided to freeze it... because that is what the internet told me to do. :P

It did not help at all. I spent hours today trying to figure out what I was doing wrong, using more polish, putting the magnet closer to the nail, putting the magnet on faster. I tried the magnet with another polish... nothing worked, so I decided to look it up online to see if anybody else had problems with it or if I just had a faulty magnet. Turns out this polish/magnet has hundreds of terrible reviews. Ugh. I wish I read the reviews first!

The problem is that the magnet just isn't strong enough. In the areas where the nail bends further away from the magnet (the sides), you don't get a pattern at all. :(

So... this was $16 down the drain. The polish still works with other magnets, but I'm afraid the fishnet magnet is a bust. The green magnetic polish is very pretty, but I wouldn't have spent $16 on a small bottle of green magnetic polish, especially when China Glaze is coming out with a similar color. :(

The other polish (purple) I used is China Glaze - Drawn to You... which I apparently forgot to swatch. o__O

Color:  Nails Inc. - Spitalfields: $16 Sephora.
Top Coat: Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat: $8 Sally Beauty Supply, $10 Target.
Base Coat: Orly - Bonder: $5.39 TransDesign, $7.49 Sally Beauty Supply & CVS.

Nail Polish Earrings.

I was trying out my new Nails Inc. polish today but it didn't turn out so well because the magnet was very week, I'm freezing it now so hopefully tomorrow it will work better. I've never tried freezing a magnet before, so I hope it works! So, no swatch today. :(

However, I ordered some supplies to start making some earrings, I've seen nail polish jewelry on Etsy but only a couple used hearts and I really wanted hearts! So... this is what I made so far. I ended up ordering smaller hearts since I think these are too big if I'm going to have earrings in my second holes. It's super fun to do. :)

Mini Haul!

I've been super busy this week so I haven't had time to post!

My boyfriend and I have been running around the city the past few days!
I managed to pick up some polish and makeup during all the chaos and he
got me a Brobee beanie baby. I love Brobee, he's so cute!

I've only been painting my nails really quickly with colors I have already swatched lately so I don't have any new swatches, so I thought I'd at least post what I've picked up. :)

I ordered some Avon!
This is the first time I have ordered shadows from Avon(and mark.), I even ordered colors I don't usually use on my eyes (blue and teal).

I ordered...

1. Mark. - Keep It Going (Longwear eye liner & shadow) in Naturalist.  $12
In high school I lived on the Revlon cream shadows so I was hoping this would
turnout like those... it did not.
It does work as an eyeliner but I would not use this as a shadow.
I wouldn't even call it cream really, it's very thin and liquidy. The teal color is not opaque.
I tried very hard to make it work as a shadow and I just ended up giving up. :(

2.  Mark. - Flat Eyeliner Brush. $10
I have no complaints about this brush, it's a bit big for a liner brush but it was very easy to use.

3. Avon - True Color (Eyeshadow duo) in Turquoise Jewel. $4.
I really wasn't expecting much out of this, it was cheap and the only reason I got it was because they used it on a look in the catalog and I liked it, if it didn't work out... I wasn't losing much money like I did on the Mark. Liner/Shadow.
Turns out... it is awesome! The pigment and texture are a much higher quality than drugstore brands and it blends very easily. It actually fits the term "velvety" I'm going to have to buy more of these. :)

I haven't tried any of the polishes yet but I'm very excited to start trying them out tomorrow!

 from Sephora I got...
1. Nails Inc. - Magnetic Polish in Spitalfields. $16
I couldn't resist the fishnet magnet and the green color is very very pretty. :D

2. Tokidoki - Nail Confetti in Latte. $6
I love tokidoki! I didn't own anything tokidoki yet because it's just too expensive, heh. This was only $6 though and came with adorable nail stickers so I picked it up!

from Shopper's Drug Mart....
1. Essence - Colour & Go in Where's The Party? $1.69
I saw a duochrome for less than $2 and I grabbed it. :D
