Born Pretty Store - Qgirl-030 Stamping Plate

Press Sample

Hello everyone! I have a stamping plate (Qgirl-30) from Born Pretty Store up for review today.
This is especially exciting because it is my first time stamping. It took me a couple of hours to learn and practice but, I figured it out! It really isn't as hard as it looks and I think I got some good results for being a first timer.

I have seen videos of people stamping before and it looked pretty simple. Just paint on the plate, scrape off the excess polish, press your rubber stamper to the plate and then transfer the image to your nail. Pretty simple, right?

Well, right away the stamper did not pick anything up so I researched a bit and found that the stamper has to be primed to use. Priming it involves washing it with dish soap and then filing the surface. I washed it off and gently filed it down with a 80/100 grit file being careful not to rip it. I kept checking the progress until I was picking up the whole image without bald spots.

Next, I tried a ton of different polishes until I found I got the best results with China Glaze - Liquid Leather. I think I really need to get some stamping polishes because most of the polishes I tried were not opaque enough. I opted to scrape with a used up gift card instead of the metal scraper that came with the stamp because I heard they can scratch up your plate.

I found that in order for the stamper to pick up the polish, you have to paint the plate, scrape and press the stamp on pretty quickly. Doing this quick enough took some practice. Once the image is on the stamp you can slow down a bit for placement on the nail.

Overall, I found stamping to be a lot of fun and totally not as hard as I thought it would be. I usually stay away from all things nail art because I really am not very good at it. I suppose I could be with some practice but, I get discouraged easily. :P Stamping is very doable for nail art newbs like me... now I need more plates!
